PROVINCETOWN PRINTMAKING
The students were assigned a project where they made a print of a subject that interested them, reminiscent of Provincetown’s traditional printmakers, like Blanche Lazzell, Mabel Hewit, and Mary Mullineaux. These women were inspired by Japanese wood prints and found a way to make them multicolored. The project was a great way to explore negative space! The final result was a linoleum block carved out to create the image, which is then printed.
