Part of being a graphic designer is understanding the language of typography in order to use it expressively, improve understanding, and communicate more effectively. Look around and notice the typography that surrounds us, and depend on daily. Start seeing type in a new and different way—as a useful tool for communication. Like many learned skills, learning the language of typography takes time and practice.
ADOBE PHOTOSHOP COMPOSITE
Storytelling - a new way of finding wholeness and unity. It is a form of creative art that can dissolve boundaries and limitations, propose new possibilities, embrace multiple viewpoints. Composite photography is the use or combination of two or more different images to create a new one. It’s something that requires constant practice in order to create believable compositions. Social media, advertising, and video all utilize composite art.
CHARACTER DESIGN – A NEW SIMPSON
Video games, television, social media, cartoons, and anime all give life to interesting characters. Designing a new way of thinking for a character that has been the same for decades, is a challenge especially when the character is successful.
ARTIST ANALYSIS – GREG MIKE – LOUD MOUTH
By analyzing artwork students learn an artist's point of view and create derivative work without ripping off their ideas. Studying contemporary artists and their work is an easy way to connect art vocabulary and subjective issues such as the emotional and personal connections to artwork.
ANIMATION – CIMEMAGRAPHS AND SCENES
A visual medium that lives between the world of photography and videography bringing emotions to photos.
Capture living images to gain attention in social media advertising.
DESIGN AND VISUAL COMMUNICATION STUDENTS
During the DVC program students work with Photoshop, InDesign, Digital Photography, and Video to produce a variety of multimedia projects for their portfolios. Package Design, Product Photography, Multimedia Presentations, Web design, and Production skills will be introduced through the use of the latest technology.
